About The Department

The New Castle City Police Department has proudly been protecting and serving the Citizens of New Castle since the department was established in 1875.  The NCPD is comprised of 37 Full time officers, which include a chief, 3 Lieutenants, 7 sergeants, 2 Corporals and 26 Patrol officers.  We also employ 4 civilian clerical staff who are ready to assist you when you call or visit the department.

 Divisions at the NCPD include the Patrol Division, a Criminal Investigative Division, a Narcotics Division, a Traffic division, and a Community Affairs Division.  The NCPD has specialized units which include the Critical Incident Response Team, a Motorcycle Unit, a Bicycle unit, a K9 unit, a Major Case Assistance Team, and a Narcotics task force.
